Garfield Birthday Cake Decorating

To be honest I didn't bake the cake or make the icing, I was just the assistant.  But I learned to spread and pipe icing to decorate so that's what this post is about :)

The cake is first baked.
Cool on the cooling rack before decorating.
Top of the cake is slightly shaved off to make the cake flat.  Then white icing are then spread throughout the cake to fill any holes and crumbs.
Light blue icing is that spread on the top for the water effect.
Red icing is then spread around the rim to give the illusion of the Garfield water bowl.
Black icing is then used to draw the outline of Garfield and the letters.
Use a large star shape pipping tip to pipe orange icing.

Yellow icing to fill around the mouth.
White icing to fill the eyes.
Use dark blue icing to decorate the hat and create water ripples. Finally use black icing to fill the eyes and enhance Garfield features.  The finish product!
